Overview

The Sturmgewehr 58 (StG 58) is a battle rifle made under license by Steyr-Daimler-Puch (SDP) and was formerly the standard rifle of the Austrian Federal Army.

It is essentially a user customised version of the FAL, it was selected in a 1958 competition, beating the Spanish CETME and American AR-10.

Chambered for 7.62 x 51mm NATO, the StG 58 features a folding bipod and differs from the FAL by using polymer stock rather than wood, it can be distinguished by from its Belgian and Argentine counterparts by its combination flash suppressor and grenade launcher.
