Overview

The FN Model 1906 pistol is yet another John Moses Browning design.

The Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FN) Model 1906 is a compact, hammerless, semi-automatic single action pistol, chambered in the Browning invented .25 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) calibre. Metric cartridge size is 6.35mm.

It was designed and marketed as a small concealable firearm that could be easily tucked into a gentleman’s vest pocket for unobtrusive carry.

As a pocket pistol it was small being 4.5 inches long, a barrel of 2 inches and with a magazine that could take six cartridges, it weighed 13 ounces. The pistols fixed open sights were rather small and rudimentary but typical for small hidden automatics of its era and adequate for the short range at which it was intended to be used.

This pistol was also made by Colt and marketed as the Colt 1908 Model N or popularly known as the “Vest Pocket”. 420,000 were made by Colt between 1908 and 1948.
