Overview

The Rohm Model RG17 over/under double barrel classic ‘derringer’ configuration.

Made by Rohm, a German arms company in Sontheim, that have specialised in small pistols in various configurations.

This is a single action, two barrel, break open pistol.

 

Helpful Info

Regarding dates and period correctness, this type of pistol is appropriate for use from the 1880’s up to the present day.

Foxtrot example shown is a Rohm Model RG17 .38 calibre ‘derringer’ type pistol. It is fitted with light wood grips and is in a blued finish.

Film Set Notes…

We normally use .38 blanks loaded with black powder that gives a slower burn than smokeless loads, resulting in a bright muzzle flash, accompanied by an amount of smoke.

Also, black powder loads are more appropriate for the late 19th century period.
