This item is HIRE ONLY for use by a recognised Film, TV, Commercials or Theatre production company.

The Smith & Wesson Model 5906 is a third generation semi-automatic pistol from Smith & Wesson’s 5900 series of handguns that commenced manufacture in 1989.

The 5906 is chambered for 9 x 19mm and is constructed from stainless steel.

Whilst a true double action pistol, the firearm shares the magazine disconnect feature with Browning Hi-Power pistols. It cannot be fired without the magazine in place.

This feature was developed to meet the needs of various law enforcement agencies interested in providing another level of safety for their officers. In the event of losing control over their weapon, they can render it useless by dropping out the magazine.

With a 10 or 15 round magazine, other features include ambidextrous safety levers and fixed or adjustable sights.

The stainless steel double action only variant of this pistol, the Model 5946, produced from 1990 until 1999 is the primary issue Royal Canadian Mounted Police pistol and one of three pistols available for selection by the New York City Police Department.
