L86 LSW 5.56mm light support weapon

This item is HIRE ONLY for use by a recognised Film, TV, Commercials or Theatre production company.

Overview

First introduced in 1986 and chambered for 5.56mm, the light support weapons role was to support the infantry section riflemen. Based upon the L85A1 assault rifle, the LSW has a longer barrel, bipod and rear pistol grip. The extended barrel provides greater accuracy and so its primary use has shifted to become a longer range marksmans weapon, accurate to over 600 metres.

The role of support weapon has been now taken up by the FN Minimi with its quick change barrel and belt feed.
