The Ruger 10/22 is a small lightweight semi auto carbine manufactured by the US firearms company Sturm Ruger of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Tthe 10/22 was designed by William B Ruger and Harry H Siegfried. It went into production in 1964 and over 5 million have been made.

The Ruger 10/22 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle. It has a removeable 10 or 5 round magazine which, when attached, fit flush with the bottom of the stock. Larger magazines are available.

It was immediately popular upon its release, being one of the first modern rifles which was designed as a quality adult gun (with adult ergonomics) and not a cheap ‘youth rifle’. However, its easy handling, negligible recoil and inexpensive ammunition make it ideal for young or inexperienced shooters.
