Overview

The Steyr MPi 81 is a blowback design firing from an “L”-shaped bolt and chambered for the 9 x 19mm cartridge.

The receiver, made from stamped steel, forms a ventilated cooling jacket and the prominent cocking handle is located on its left front. Featuring a sliding butt stock, made from steel wire, the MPi 81 has 100 and 200 meter settings on flipup sights.

The MPi 81 is shaped much like other telescoping bolt submachine guns, such as the MAC 10 or Uzi. It has a vertical pistol handgrip into which the magazine is inserted, and a longer horizontal front grip area ; it also has an extendable stock.

An improved version of the MPi 69. It has a conventional cocking handle on the left side of the receiver and other minor improvements, including an increased firing rate of 700 rpm.
